This week in 4A

Did you have a good vacation 4A? Are you ready for this semester? I hope so!

This weeks spelling tests words are focusing on beginning and end sounds or blends.
These are dr, sc, ft, nk. These are the words:
Dry, dream, drink, score, soft, left, think, dragon, drum, scared,
scarf, gift, thank, bank, drop, scatter, sink, scampre, drum.
You also had to write the meanings for the words so that you don't only know how to spell them, but you know how to use them as well.

For the Superfudge and Tales of a fourth grade nothing readers, we have been writing chapter summaries. This is to ensure that you have understood what is important in each chapter!

Two reading groups will be going with Mr. Sean on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They will be reading the Odyssey. In this time I will be with one group. We have started a short story called American pepper, about a family who receive a parcel from America. They don't know what it is and the letter explaining is in English which they can't read! Tomorrow we will continue with the story and start answering the questions. I had you write down the words that you did not understand and search for the meanings. I hope you did!

Our song for this month is called "Here in this diary", by The Ataris. We have a song competition next week, and the theme is Punk music. Please do not ask for Micheal Jackson, because he was not a punk singer!!!!!! We have to be really good and beat 4B and 5A and 5B. That means you have to practice, practice, practice at home!!!! :)

This week in 3A

Are you all ready for this month? From this semester you wil be receiving more homework than before, so I hope nobody tells me they had too much Arabic homework :) English is very important too! Yesterday in 3A we received our new spelling words for the week. You also had to write the meanings of the words on the list I gave you. These are the words:

Camping, trip, overnight, trail, afraid, vacation, tent, lake, waterfall, began, backpack, water bottle, marshmallows and camera.



We are also learning a new song this month. The name of it is "Here in this diary", by The Ataris. It was one of my favourite songs when I was younger so I hope you like it too!



All 3 groups this week, will be reading the story Dinosaur babies. It is about the different types of dinosaurs and how they were looked after by their moms. We are also reading about how long ago dinosaurs lived, and what dinosaur hunters have found that tell us they did exist.



We also did an exercise on comparing, using opposites.

E.g The boy is small. The girl is big.

The rock is hard. The pillow is soft.
